More Fruit

Heard of tamarillos? Well they were new to me until recently. I bought a bag of them and then surfed the web to figure out how to prepare them. They are a lovely dark red color. The skins are a bit tough and are removed by putting the fruits into boiling water. Flavor-wise they are a bit sour. I made them into a salsa and into some muffins. I have heard that they're good sugared and served on top of ice cream.

Crab apples are well known. A neighbor gave me some small apples she called crab apples. My research clarified that crab apples are marble sized and what I had were probably wild apples. Anyways you cook them both the same way, add sugar, and they become a beautiful jelly.
