Took some time this afternoon to go fishing with Dennis. I had made a few calls and can get some paperwork done this evening after he goes to bed so asked him for an hour then we went.
Chris wanted to go with us, not to go fishing but to go shopping. She figured while we were out on the pier wresting with a spotty or two she could be browsing through the various shops on Jackson Street.
The drive to Petone was beautiful; the sky was clear, the mountains were a stark contrast to the sky and the water was alive with white caps as the southerly was blowing hard. Dennis and I left the car at the pier to start our fishing adventure. As soon as we walked through the gate to the pier we could feel the full force of that southerly blowing in our face!
Truth is we did not last until the end of the pier. About 50 feet (16 meters) onto the pier Dennis put on his coat. Another 100' (32 meters) he said he was too cold and wanted to turn back. Thank God for cell phones. By the time we got to the end of the pier we could see Chris coming to retrieve us.
It was a short fishing trip. (Much to my relief) And I am sure there will be more!
