New Zealand has been shaken up not only physically by last Tuesday's earthquake, but also emotionally. Most kiwis have some connection to Christchurch--family, friends or memories of visits.
It has been amazing to see kiwi people reach out to the people of Christchurch. Hospitals in Auckland, Wellington and other cities made room for the injured, by cancelling non urgent procedures. Students in Christchurch are picking up shovels and shoveling silt. People in Wellington are making space in their homes for evacuees. Our church emptied out its food pantry to help.
When you pray, do pray for the people of Christchurch. It is a tremendous loss to have so much destruction in the country's second largest city.
