Transportation

We have learned how to get around by both bus and train. Oh, have we mentioned walking? We get around by foot too.

Tom bought a motorized skateboard. This is no dinky skateboard; it is 3 feet long and almost a foot wide. He thought he might commute to work in it; however, I suggested that a tumble while in a suit would make it a very expensive skate board. Tom has seen the light and it is now a family toy. He and Dennis have tested it going up hills on it together. As it has plenty of ommph it might end up being a fun toy for the family.

On Saturday we took the train to some car dealers. We are looking for a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Tom found out that he will fit into a Toyota Rav 4 or a Honda CR-V. He would like a bigger vehicle but we need to consider fuel economy. One of the dealers had free hot dogs and coffee. Hopefully we can buy a car before we move in to the house on Patanga Crescent next Friday.

We can rent the car with the house but it is a manual transmission. We would prefer an automatic going up and down Wellington's hills.

Wellington is pretty easy to get around. We have not been lost yet. We have taken the train to go shopping in the suburbs. We took the bus to go to two different swimming pools. When we want to go somewhere we get out the Metlink map and the Wellington map and figure it out. On Sunday we take the train to Paraparamu to visit a friend there.
